Resumen

MARTELL MARTORELL, Librada; LEIVA PERDOMO, Yanitza  y  SUAREZ ESCALONA, Elio Álvaro. Nursing care in the transplant of hematopoyetic progenitors. Rev Cubana Hematol Inmunol Hemoter [online]. 2017, vol.33, n.4, pp.25-34. ISSN 0864-0289.

Bone marrow transplantation is currently an alternative treatment for malignant hematological diseases such as acute leukemias and lymphomas and for non-malignant diseases such as aplastic anemia, sickle cell disease and immunodeficiencies. Its purpose is to restore the function of bone marrow and achieve a normal hematopoiesis. The conditioning regime favors the immunosuppression of the patient and prevents rejection of the graft. However, it can lead to serious complications, including infections. Nursing care during the transplantation is aimed at providing timely and effective care in order to prevent, treat and overcome the complications of the procedure by developing and establishing a specific care plan for this type of patient, which will serve as a guide for newly enrolled nurses and as training in our hospital to others interested in this procedure.

Palabras clave : hematopoietic cell transplantation; nursing care; prevention; complications.
