MARTELL MARTORELL, Librada de la Caridad y URBINA LAZA, Omayda. Specific competences of the graduate in nursing in hematology. Rev Cubana Hematol Inmunol Hemoter [online]. 2025, vol.41 Epub 05-Sep-2025. ISSN 1561-2996.
Introduction:
Nursing as a profession and social discipline is immersed in the accelerated development of humanity in all its areas. It has adjusted to respond with quality and comprehensiveness to the new care needs that society demands and, at the same time, adapt to a more competitive work world.
Objective:
To identify the specific competencies in hematology of the nursing graduate for the care of people with hematological conditions.
Methods:
A systematic review was carried out for a critical reflective analysis of the contents of documents published during the years 2011 to 2023, with a clear methodology and selected theoretical reference. The SCIELO, PubMed, Google and Google Scholar databases were consulted. The descriptors Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) and Descriptors in Health Sciences (DeCS) were used.
Results:
The term competencies was systematized, which allowed the identification of 13 specific competencies for the nursing graduate who works in the care of people with hematological diseases. The research assumes a definition of competencies that integrates the functions and tasks that nursing graduates perform in caring for these people.
Conclusions:
The specific competencies identified for nursing graduates in the hematology specialty are presented for the first time as a result of scientific research. This establishes a better provision for the evaluation of competencies in these professionals and shows the relevance of the design of a competency model for nursing graduates working in hematology services.
