Resumen

NIUBO JORGE, Irene; CRUZ HERNANDEZ, Angel  y  AYUSO MEZA, Grisel. Sistema computadorizado de análisis y cálculo con dermatoglifos. Rev Cubana Invest Bioméd [online]. 1997, vol.16, n.1, pp.34-39. ISSN 0864-0300.

Dermatoglyphics is a software system developed by the Central Institute for Digital Research (CIDR) and by a group of specialists from the "William Soler" Pediatric Teaching Hospital, leaded by Dr. Liane Borbolla Vacher, a high level specialist in dermatoglyphics with an internationally recognized prestige. The analysis of the line and ridge patterns of the fingers and palms of the hands and the toes and soles of the feet has been used since last century as a criterion for the diagnosis of different diseases, mainly of those of genetic origin. This computerized system allows to show the finger and palms prints of each patient, using files generated by the scanner, the enlargement of different scales, the image improvement, and the selection of qualitative data. It also provides tools for the calculation of the quantitative dermatoglyphic data. This information, as well as the general data of the patient, is stored in databases that may be partial or totally listed, which is very useful for research. The system makes possible the generation of a text file for its further analysis by statistical packages.

Palabras clave : AUTOMATIC DATA PROCESSING [methods]; ABNORMALITIES [diagnosis].
