HERNANDEZ TORANZO, Rebeca. Caracterización electromiográfica en sujetos sanos mediante el método de análisis de Turns. Rev Cubana Invest Bioméd [online]. 1999, vol.18, n.3, pp.215-224. ISSN 0864-0300.

A quantitative electromyographic study with electrodes of concentric needle was conducted in 40 healthy volunteer subjects. It was used the method of analysis of Turns, whose software is used in the Neurónica 02 equipment made in Cuba. The following muscles were studied: deltoid muscle, first interosseal dorsal muscle, anterior tibial muscle and gemellus internal muscle. The following variables were measured: turns/second, activity, mean amplitude, upper centile amplitude and number of small segments. Comparisons were also made among the 4 studied muscles. Normartive values of such variables by muscles were determined and differences of amplitudes between the muscles of the upper and lower limbs were found. Curves of normality were obtained for each muscle according to the force of contraction. To this end, the relations among the following variables were used: turns/mean amplitude, activity/upper centile amplitude, mean amplitude/upper centile amplitude and turns/number of small segments. This is a practical tool to make future comparisons between sound and sick individuals.
