RODRIGUEZ SOSA, Víctor Manuel; RODRIGUEZ AURRECOCHEA, Juan Carlos; ROZHKOVA, Galina G y MACIAS HERNANDEZ, Ileana. Use of tisuacryl as an hemostatic in intrabadominal hemorrhages provoked in rats. Rev Cubana Invest Bioméd [online]. 2004, vol.23, n.4, pp.249-252. ISSN 0864-0300.
It was recommended to test the hemostatic effects of tisuacryl, a biomaterial of national production, in hemorrhages provoked in parenchimatous organs of the rat and to study histologically whether or not it produces lesions in these tissues. The main indication of the surgical adhesives is the closure of skin wounds, but is has also been used in emergencies to control mild bleedings in surgery. 10 rats anesthesized with sodium pentobarbital were used. Incisions were made with the scalpel in the liver, the spleen and the kidneys to cause a moderate hemorrhage. Hemostasia with tisuacryl was performed until the bleeding was stopped. The animals were sacrificed according to the designed evolution scheme. It was concluded that tisuacryl was effective as an hemostatic in the rat. No lesion was observed in the tissues where it was used from the anatomopathological point of view. Therefore, it should be used in surgical clinic and in the emergency cases as a theraputic arsenal.
