This study was conducted to be used as a working tool and as source of consultation for those who are studying it or who are interesed in this topic. The word laser means in English light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation. How many students know the meaning of these words, even when they know their translation into Spanish? To attain this informative product that leads to the study and understanding of Physics, it was necessary to search and synthesize the information published in books, journals and other reference works. As regards its structure, the initiation, development, and generalities of laser, as well as its use in Health Sciences were presented in a chronological and descriptive way.
