DE LA CONCEPCION IZAGUIRRE, Ludmila et al. Correlation between some lipid metabolism indicators and anthropometric measurements found in hypertensive adults. Rev Cubana Invest Bioméd [online]. 2007, vol.26, n.2, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3011.
A cross-sectional epidemiological study was made on hypertensive adults seen at Puentes Grandes polyclinics from January to June, 2005. The aim was to determine the correlation between lipid and anthropometric variables in patients with blood hypertension. The frequency of lipid metabolism disorders increased as much as waist circumference, being more pronounced in individuals having abdominal obesity. Body mass index of 25-29,9 kg/m2 determined a higher frequency of lipid alterations that mainly affected females. It was concluded that lipid metabolism disorders were more often in overweighed patients with abdominal obesity. There was high correlation among the studied variables.
