Xenogenous DNA used as coating of an indirect enzyme-immunoassay for detection of IgG to double-chain DNA is very difficult to obtain and it is very expensive. OBJECTIVE: To assess usefulness of allogenic and autologous DNA coating antigen to determine these antibodies. METHODS: We used as coating the DNA from calf thymus, DNA from two subjects supposedly healthy, and DNA from 4 patients diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus (DLE), Analysis of antibodies presence was carried out in serum from 4 sick subjects. RESULTS: We achieved a 100% of coincidence in results, as well as a few differences in method discrimination ability using the three types of DNA. CONCLUSIONS: Human DNA (allogenic and autologous) is also useful as coating of this enzyme-immunoassay that the xenogenous DNA one.
