Maxillaryrectomy is one of the surgery interventions prescribed for the treatment of the neoplasms of facial region. This technique includes the resection of maxilla and of some anatomic structures adjacent to it grouped under the denomination of facial block. The aim of present paper is to make a historical review and a subject analysis and also to show the classification system and a indications guideline for the maxilaryrectomy used in the National Institute of Oncology and Radiobiology of La Habana. Another aim is to emphasize the need to establish a guide of practical use allowing to eliminate a confused terminology, to help in the communication among professionals, to make easy the understanding of the location of these tumors and to improve the treatment quality.
