Abstract

The aim of this investigation was to assess the professors´ creativity in the teaching-educative process of the Nursing Basic Course at the Health Polytechnic of Guantánamo. 18 professors of the different subjects included in the nursing curriculum participated in this study. In order to collect information, the professors were interviewed and the teaching records were also reviewed. Their competence and performance in the control and application of the ways or forms stimulating creativity were evaluated. It was observed that the professors had an adequate control of the ways used to encourage creativity, and that the most used were the following: presentation of cases, scientific research, bibliographic consultations, laboratory practices and the solution of problems. Besides, the utilization of independent work was assessed and the main problems and needs affecting the stimulation of creativity as part of the teaching educative process were identified.
