To determine the level of knowledge of patients on sexually transmitted diseases and the effectiveness of nurse's work in preventive and educational programs, considering that such diseases have always represented a health problem, 42 HIV-positive patients diagnosed with various sexually transmitted diseases within a year were selected for a study. It was demonstrated through surveys that most of patients had a low level of knowledge because 70 % proved to know very little about this topic, hence, an intervention strategy through education for health activities was worked out and implemented with encouraging and satisfactory results since the abovementioned percentage was reduced to 15 % whereas 85 % of patients managed to reach medium and high level of knowledge about these diseases. Nurses were encouraged to potentiate their preventive-educational work which is a fundamental part of the performance of their duties.
