Resumen

CARDENAS PEREZ, Yolanda  y  PONCE CONSUEGRA, Ángela. Comparación de los logros obtenidos en la educación permanente durante los años 1997 y 1998. Rev Cubana Enfermer [online]. 2003, vol.19, n.1, pp.243-249. ISSN 0864-0319.

A descriptive, retrospective and longitudinal study was conducted at the Pediatric Hospital of Palma Soriano, in the province of Santiago de Cuba, aimed at comparing the results obtained by applying continuing education to the nursing staff between 1997 and 1998. The sample was composed of 90 nurses that were working at that time. A test including competence, performance, interview, observation, concurrent auditings and supervisions was used to identify the training and managerial needs, which led to the establishment of a pedagogical and managerial strategy to analyze this problem and transform the health services. The results revealed that in 1997 there were more needs of this type than in 1998, which showed that there had been an improvement of the scientific and technical training of the nursing personnel in order to provide a service with more quality and to make possible that continuing education be the starting point towards professional excellence in a near future.

Palabras clave : EDUCATION, NURSING; EDUCATION, NURSING; CONTINUING, HEALTH MANPOWER; MANAGEMENT; QUALITY OF HEALTH CARE.
