Strategical education was initiated at the "III Congress" Hospital, in Pinar del Rio, in January, 1996. The multidisciplinary team of "Simon Bolivar" CEPROPER held a meeting with the Boarding Council of the center and selected 3 services (Dermatology, Retinosis Pigmentosa and Oncology) to introduce this working style. The members of the team payed 67 visits of familiarization at different shifts to identify themselves with the workers and to know the working algorithm used. The center has 20 health providers distributed into diverse specialities. 7 of them are engaged in nursing. The services were anaylzed and difficulties were observed concerning some nursing procedures and the cleaning methods used by general helpers. We applied performance evaluations and techniques to identify the learning needs in order to determine the difficulties of the nurses A plan was made to develop the educative processes that will be taught to the 9 nurses with learning difficulties. These processes were monitored and their effectiveness was proved According to the results of the survey, we could know their criteria in relation to strategical education, since they all knew it, received information by different ways and felt motivated with the style it promotes.
