The objective of this biographical review of Victoria Brú Sánchez is to approach to a woman that lived at the beginning of the last century, whose great sense of professional duty turned her into the first martyr of Cuban nursing. Her life and work should be more deeply studied as a way of encouraging the strengthening of vocation and moral responsibility in the professional performance of present and future Cuban nursing staff.
