Ear acupuncture is the technique by which several diseases are diagnosed and treated with the reaction points located in the ear. Ear acupuncture is beneficial because it is easy-to-learn, widely used, its quick response, extensive management and few side effects. A prospective longitudinal study was performed on the control of blood hypertension using phytoteraphy and ear acupuncture in the physician´s office no.72 of "Carlos Manuel Ramírez Corría" Polyclinics in San Luis, Santiago de Cuba province, from July to December,2002. From a universe of 45 hypertensive patients was taken a sample of 30 patients; primary data was collected from a survey form where several variables of interest were included such as: age, sex diagnosis by sex, course of disease of patients per sex and group. Any treatment not related to phytoteraphy and ear acupuncture was excluded. Satisfactory results were obtained in the recovery of patients, no complications were found in any patients as a result of the treatment.
