Abstract

To raise the quality of health services mainly in Obstetrics and Children Care Institutions, is nowadays a significant premise of National Health System, where training of Human Resources has an special significance. The need to create a design of Maternal-Children Nursing as specialty, with a postgraduate educational level allows the resident's training and in this way to conform a social and technical foundation and to improve our health organization to secure the people access to quality services. In present paper are exposed the main features, academic results, strengthens, and weakness of Educational Teaching Process in the first group of residents training in Maternal-Children Nursing as specialty. Information was gathered and the official documents were reviewed and also professors and residents were interviewed. We consider that generally the specialty was adequately developed fulfilling the established requirements of Residence Regime Regulations. Training of this first group was done in "Comandante Manuel Fajardo" Faculty.
