The research work in health systems and services is one of the topics less addressed by the nursing professionals in Cuba. The above-mentioned is evinced in the small number of research projects in this area that are submitted to the annual events of the Branch Program promoting research. A literature and documentary review was made to analyze some of the possible causes of the present situation. This analysis allowed identifying some aspects that may influence the poor identification of the nurses with the carrying out of such line of research that, at first sight, might be considered a casual situation.
