Abstract

Pregnancy in adolescence is a problem not only related to perinatal results, but all the psychosocial complications that motherhood with her at this age. Objective: To assess the effectiveness of educational intervention in adolescents in risk of pregnancy at 11-19 years old from the consulting room No. 24, "Ignacio Agramonte" polyclinic from January to December, 2008. Methods: Universe and sample included 46 adolescents choosed by random sampling. Data were collected by application of a survey designed by authors according the references reviewed and the specialists 'criteria including 14 variables: age, schooling, marital status, knowledge on pregnancy prevention and the assessment before and after intervention. Data processing was carried out by means of SSSP statistic package applying the differential and inference statistics. Results: There was predominance of 17-19 years old group, 17 (37,0%), the schooling level predominant was the non-finished secondary school with 25 adolescents (54,3%), the married marital status with 39 (84,8%), the knowledge level on prevention of pregnancy before was inappropriate in 27 adolescents (58,7%), after it was appropriate in 35 (76,1%). Conclusions: The educational intervention applied was effectiveness, since it raises the knowledge level in adolescents.
