Abstract

Introduction:

The essence of care is inherent to human existence from birth to the finitude. In care settings in which nursing is inserted is important to emphasize that the staff dimensioning is closely related to the needs of patient care and quality of care is sought, and thus must take into account the present workload in these units assistance.

Objective:

To analyze the production about the workload experienced by nursing staff as part of oncology services.

Methods:

Iintegrative literature review in consultation with the databases: PubMed / MEDLINE, LILACS and CINAHL, with the descriptors: workload, workload measurement, oncology, oncology nursing, oncology nursing, nursing care and nursing critical care. 74 productions were found after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, were selected 8 articles.

Conclusion:

These studies demonstrate the importance of evaluating the load of nurses working in oncology environment to better sizing of staff and consequent increase in quality of care in oncology nursing.
