Abstract

DA SILVA GAMA, Bárbara; SANTOS DE SOUZA COSTA, Cintia Camila  and  TAROUCO DA SILVA, Bárbara. The nursing process in the hospitalization of adults. Rev Cubana Enfermer [online]. 2018, vol.34, n.1, e1183.  Epub Mar 01, 2018. ISSN 0864-0319.

Introduction:

The implementation of the Nursing Process depends exclusively on the nursing professional, who has a legal support for performing all activities that are under its responsibility in an autonomous and systematic way.

Objective:

To identify the scientific knowledge produced about the Nursing Process in the hospitalization of adults in Brazil.

Methods:

This is an integrative review, which was held in the databases: Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online, Biblioteca de Dados em Enfermagem and Scientific Electronic Library Online. The descriptors “nursing process”, “nursing diagnosis” and “hospitalization” were used. Papers published between 2011 and 2016 that highlighted this issue were selected. The collection of papers was conducted from October 2015 to April 2016. Papers indicating the skills and competencies required for the implementation of the Nursing Process, the difficulties found during this implementation, as well as the contributions to the nursing care in the face of hospitalization of adults, were selected and analyzed.

Conclusions:

The Nursing Process is a relevant tool that enhances the nursing care, ensures the scientific character of this profession and gives visibility to the nursing professional within the health service. Nonetheless, it was realized that the Nursing Process is not recognized by most nursing professionals. This fact is mainly perceived in the Brazilian context, where, despite the compulsory requirement of its application, one can identify difficulties for its full implementation.

Keywords : Nursing processes; hospitalization; nursing diagnosis; nursing.
