Abstract

Introduction:

Patients with chronic kidney disease on hemodialysis, have often risk for infection, and the key role of the nursing team, active in the nephrology unit, is have an extensive knowledge about the principles of infection control.

Objective:

To identify nursing care aimed at prevention of infection in patients undergoing hemodialysis.

Methods:

This is an integrative review, held in the databases: Scopus, Web of Science, Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences, National Library of Medicine and Nattional Institutes of Health, COCHRANE and Cinhal by the crossing of descriptors: Nursing Care, infection and renal dialysis, in June 2015, and were selected six articles.

Conclusions:

Four articles showed 11 nursing care directed at preventing infection of the vascular access, especially central venous catheter. They identified four articles with ten general care in the prevention of infection in hemodialysis patients. Finally, if viewed, in two articles, care directed to surveillance policies in preventing infection in hemodialysis patients.
