Abstract

OLIVERA, Yuseika et al. Morphobotanical characterization of accessions of the species Cynodon dactylon. Pastos y Forrajes [online]. 2010, vol.33, n.2, pp.1-1. ISSN 0864-0394.

In order to document the collection of turfgrass species maintained at the EEPF «Indio Hatuey», useful for ornamenting and turfing sports or recreational areas, the morphobotanical characterization of nine Cynodon dactylon accessions was conducted in the different phenological moments. For that purpose 11 quantitative and seven qualitative characteristics were taken into consideration. The existing variability in this collection was determined through a principal component analysis (PCA). The most variable indicators were stem diameter, leaf length and width, sheath length, internode length, inflorescence width, reproductive height and inflorescence length, which must be considered in future studies related to the breeding of these or other accessions with ornamental purposes.

Keywords : Botany; Cynodon dactylon.
