CANCHILA, E.R et al. Growth dynamics of 24 Brachiaria spp. accessions. Pastos y Forrajes [online]. 2010, vol.33, n.4, pp. 1-1. ISSN 0864-0394.
In order to evaluate the growth dynamics of 24 accessions of the genus Brachiaria spp., this study was conducted in the Barrancabermeja region, Santander, Colombia. A completely randomized design was used, in 72 plots of 21 m2 each and three replications (plots) for each treatment. The accessions were grouped according to the growth habits into: stoloniferous, decumbent and erect, and the growth rate regarding pasture height was determined. The accessions with best growth during the study were: stoloniferous, B. dictyoneura CIAT-6133; among those of decumbent habit, B. decumbens CIAT-606; and with erect growth, B. brizantha CIAT-16113, CIAT-26110, CIAT-26318 and CIAT-16322. Some accessions did not have a good performance, seemingly due to the edaphoclimatic conditions to which they were subject. Among them are: B. dictyoneura CIAT-16871, B. ruziziensis CIAT-26180 and B. brizantha CIAT-16212, 26124 and 26427.
