The annual incidence of diabetes mellitus in Cerro municipality, Havana City, is investigated. The investigation comprehends the period 1982-1991 and data from the Consumers Registration Offices are taken as an information source. During the first five years it is found a rate per 100 000 inhabitants that increases progressively.This trend changes during the second lustrum and there is a decrease in the first and last years of this stage, which is the posible cause of this variation. The rate of the first year analyzed was of 126,9 and that of the last one was of 201 diabetics. The highest rate was found in 1986 with 234,5.
