A preliminary study of the patients treated by homeopathic therapeutics at a family physician's office of the "Manuel Fajardo" Polyclinic between January and August, 1995 was conducted. The diseases were classified into acute and chronic and the homeopathic drug was administered in individual doses via oral. Of the 220 patients treated, 110 were considered as acute and 106 (96.3 %) of them were cured. Among the 110 cases of chronic diseases, 75 (65.18 %) got better. In all, 136 cases (61.8 %) were cured, 79 (33.7 %) improved and 5 remained in the same situation. It was observed a predominance of the female sex with 153 cases (69.5 %). There were no secondary effects. The cost-benefit aspect is in favor of the therapeutics
