A bibliographic review of he literature available on the hormonal and non hormonal therapeutic approach of climateric was made. Texts, journals and monographies from 1990 to 1995 were reviewed. We agree with the authors who state that the replacement hormonal therapeutics for those patients keeping their uterus should be combined, with the addition of progestogens, and that the estrogens of election are the conjugated ones and estradiol. The oral route is preferred in this case. We conclude that is very important the comprehensive attention to these patients and that the risks of estrogenic therapeutics should be known.
