Resumen

510 women aged 15-75, who received medical attention at the "Héroes de Girón". Community Teaching Polyclinic, were surveyed and examined from October, 1994, to July, 1995. Patients at high risk were also included before applying the screening tests for carcinoma by mammography in order to evaluate and detect brezst affections in general. Patients with signs detected on the physical examination were studied by ultrasonography, mammography, and fine needle aspiration biopsy, as it was required in coordination with the Radiology Service of the "Hermanos Ameijeiras" Clinical and Surgical Hospital and with the similar consultation of the Surgery Service in the "Joaquín Albarrán" Clinical and Surgical Hospital. Of the 127 symptomatic cases, 61 patients were identified as positive because of the presence of some sign. 29 of them were operated on for having different types of bening tumors. 3 asymptomatic carcinomas were detected.
