HERRERA GOMEZ, Vivian; RODRIGUEZ DOMINGUEZ, Lourdes; QUINTERO SANTANA, Mercedes  y  FEBLES TARDIO, Luis. Anticonceptivo en la consulta de planificación familiar. Rev Cubana Med Gen Integr [online]. 1997, vol.13, n.4, pp.345-351. ISSN 0864-2125.

A descriptive study is conducted at the family planning consultation of the "Nguyen Van Troi" Teaching Polyclinic from January, 1995, to April, 1996, with the aim of contributing to the optimization of the Program of Attention to Women during the active sexual life. A survery was done and applied to 173 women who attended the planned consultations quarterly. The following variables were measured: age, school level, deliveries, occupation, marital status, knowledge about the contraceptive methods, what they use at present, the source of information, and the complications. There was a predominance of those aged 20-24; the higher middle level was the greatest with 60.60 %; and working women accounted for 57.22 %. The intrauterine devices (IUD) and pills are the methods the patients know best, 87.3 % and 78 %, respectively. The contraceptive pills was the most preferred and used method among the surveyed population, 78.19 %, and the main source of information was the family physician.

Palabras clave : CONTRACEPTION [methods]; FAMILY PLANNING PROGRAMMES.
