A brief explanation about the relationship existing between stress and disease is given. It is analyzed the importance of the working environment as a generator of stressing situations and the significance of those factors mediating in man's reponse before such situations. It is underlined the role of work as an element for attaining man's development and the necessity to give workers all the appropiate resources to face stress. It is stated that the medical services the workers from the Basic Industry receive are conceived in a comprehensive manner and that the psychological evaluation and treatment is included. Music therapy is a therapeutic resource selected by the National Prophylactic Center for Workers of the Ministry of the Basic Industry. The principles, indications, as well as our experience are defined on applying this technique to the workers in our center.
