DIESTE SANCHEZ, Waldo et al. Evaluación de la competencia y el desempeño: Programa de prevención de la conducta suicida en Cuba. Municipio de Boyeros, 1995. Rev Cubana Med Gen Integr [online]. 1998, vol.14, n.2, pp. 149-155. ISSN 1561-3038.
With the aim of assessing the competence and performance according to the Suicidal Behaviour Prevention Program in Cuba, a survey was applied to 50 family physicians randomly selected who had been in charge of his office for at least one year, and had treated patients with attempted suicide histories. Ambulatory medical and family records as well as other documents were examined. It is found that there is practically no classification of attempted suicide patients since most of such attempts is unknown and the potential suicidal risk can not be taken into consideration. Neither individuals nor families are classified under suicidal risks. It is reported that the quality of ambulatory and family medical records was found to be poor and also that this Prevention Program was mostly glossed over in the health condition diagnosis. It is stated that the identification of needs should lead to up-dating through systematic education, and to periodically evaluating the Program with a view to fulfilling its objectives, targets and guidelines for the year 2000
