Abstract

The work carried out by the Comprehensive General Medicine Service headed by specialists in this field at the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Cienfuegos is analyzed. To this end, three of the five years of experience they have in their speciality ware taken into consideration. It is concluded that it is necessary to strengthen the family physician´s offices, since they may improve the teaching, assistance and investigative work of community medicine mainly among medical undergraduates, starting from the personal example. The definition of Health Promotion Schools written in the Letter of Ottawa, in 1986, is rescued and adapted to the real living conditions of the Cuban Medical School
