An intervention study was carried out in a group of patients of the third age from the family physician's office # 60 of "Tula Aguilera" Community Teaching Polyclinic, in the municipality of Camagüey, in order to attain a reduction in the use of polytherapy in the older adult. 129 patients aged 60-99 took part in this study. They were surveyed before and after our intervention. The results showed that there was a predominance of the age group 70-74, which is related to the highest use of polypharmacy. A prevalence of females was also observed. Polypharmacy decreased after the intervention
