Abstract

A retrospective longitudinal and descriptive study aimed at finding some aspects of the elderly patient in three physician’s offices in Mantua municipality, was carried out from July 1998 to June 1999. The universe of study was composed by 3 065 aged persons in the territory and the sample was made up of 271 seen at these physician’s offices. Male sex and 60-79 y age group prevailed. Coffee consumption and smoking were the most frequent toxic habits. The high incidence of blood hypertension was confirmed (41.69%); self-care grade I and item 5 in the implementation of the geriatric scale of functional evaluation predominated
