A case-control study was conducted in the area of the "Mabay" Polyclinic from January to May, 1999, aimed at identifying the main sex disorders among diabetic patients with 10 or more years of evolution of their disease. The sample was composed of 38 cases and 76 controls. The studied variables were the existence of organic or psychogenic erectile dysfunction, inhibition of sexual desire and the ejaculation alterations. The Chi square test, the cross products ratio and the test of comparison of proportions from independent groups were applied. The organic erectile dysfunction, the inhibited sexual desire, the retrograde ejaculation and the delayed ejaculation were significantly associated with diabetes mellitus.
