Abstract

CRESPO MOJENA, Nelson; PADILLA GONZALEZ, José de la C.  and  CRESPO VALDES, Nelson. Importancia de la microalbuminuria en la diabetes mellitus. Rev Cubana Med Gen Integr [online]. 2002, vol.18, n.5, pp.326-330. ISSN 0864-2125.

60 diabetic patients from the health area of "Bernardo Posse" Teaching Polyclinic, in the municipality of San Miguel del Padrón, were studied from October, 1999, to November, 2000. All of them were studied in their health area, where glycemia and creatinine were determined and arterial tension and the fundus of the eye were checked. Finally, microalbuminuria (Micral Test II Boehringer) was performed for the early detection and control of the evolution of an incipient nephropathy (semiquantitative immunological determination). Of a total of 35 patients with different degrees of kidney affectation detected by albuminuria excretion, 51.4 % werte positive, which shows its importance for the diagnosis and treatment of an incipient and reversible stage of kidney affectation.

Keywords : DIABETES MELLITUS [complications]; DIABETIC NEPHROPATHIES [diagnosis]; DIABETIC NEPHROPATHIES [therapy]; ALBUMINURIA.
