With the objective of identifying the general difficulties found in the process of nursing care(PNC) provided in the home care service "Angel Arturo Aballí" located in Habana Vieja municipality, a descriptive and qualitative study was conducted on March, 2001 in which the universe of study was the nursing staff working in the various physician´s medical offices in the area. The fundamental results achieved were: shortage of material resources such as cure material, lack of medicines and medical implements, as well as difficulties in devoting time to the performance of PNC since nurses have to carry out other assigned tasks that are often urgent and unplanned. Finally, the paper states that the nursing staff of the area has knowledge about the guidelines followed by physicians to decide upon the home care option.
