Evidence-based medicine has become a new orientation of medical practice and a current scientific paradigm where the clinical research plays a preponderant role and aims at changing the way in which assistance activity is carried out, therefore, evidence-based medicine is considered a clinical knowledge management tool. The article defines its concept, antecedents and history as well as the role of Cochrane Collaboration in its development and also the role of information in this project. A number of quality information sources specialized in evidence-based medicine and organized in databases, Cochrane centers, publications and Web sites are gathered.
