A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted to diagnose the functioning of families seen by a family doctor's office. Generational groups youth and adulthood in addition to nuclear families prevailed. We noted a high percentage of dysfunctional families that prevailed in all types of familiar structures. No statistically significant differences were found between the structural classification of the family and the type of familiar functioning.
