Abstract

A descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out in 80 climacteric women from September 2003 to June 2004 aimed at knowing the clinical and socioepidemiological characteristics with the highest incidence, and at analyzing the biopsychosocial repercussion of the climacteric in women from the family phsycian's office 1.1, in La Puntilla, at "Ana Betancourt" Teaching Polyclinic, "Playa" municipality, Havana City. The mild climacteric syndrome prevailed in the studied patients. The most frequent chronic diseases were arterial hypertension and arthrosis. More than 50 % of the surveyed women belonged to a functional family environment, and 75. 5 % referred to a good satisfaction of their basic needs in correspondance with a good hygienic housing setting that is closely related to the sociocultural and economic level of the investigated health area.
