A bibliographic review of aspects of interest related to the topic of violence, which are of great value in the comprehensive training of the physcian at the primary health care level, is carried out. Considerations are made concerning child abuse, one of the diverse forms of expression of violence that is important at present for the medical knowledge and daily practice.
