SEGREDO PEREZ, Alina María; PERDOMO VICTORIA, Irene e LOPEZ PUIG, Pedro. Characterization of the professional performance of the Masters in Primary Health Care. Rev Cubana Med Gen Integr [online]. 2004, vol.20, n.5-6, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3038.
A descriptive and retrospective study was undertaken among 31 graduates (86.1 %), of a total of 36 in Havana City from the course 1995-1996 to the course 1998-1999, aimed at characterizing the professional performance of those that attain the Master's Degree in Primary Health Care in the teaching and research areas. To this end, a questionnaire was made and applied that allowed them to express their opinion about the explored areas. According th their perception, it was known that within the activities they carry out in the teaching area, they.devote themselves to tutorship or advisory work of research papers (77.4 %) and to give classes (67.7 %). In the research area, the most frequent activities are the participation in scientific meetings (90.3 %) and in research groups (77.4 %). The types of research they should conduct are, in the first place, directed to populations or population-based groups (83.9 %), followed by community research (61.3 %). Both are directed to the individual-population level in 93.5 %, which makes that the individual level lags behind (3.2 %). It is concluded that the graduates considered having acquired enough scientific and technical professional training in the research and teaching area for their performance at the Primary Health Care level, which has been proved by their participation in different research groups, scientific meetings and tutorship and advisory of research papers.
