Abstract

Dyslipidaemia in persons over 60. Rev Cubana Med Gen Integr [online]. 2005, vol.21, n.3-4. ISSN 0864-2125.

A descriptive, longitudinal and prospective research was undertaken in 2 family physician’s offices of “Heroes del Moncada” Teaching Polyclinic aimed at investigating the presence of dyslipidaemia. 116 patients were interviewed and examined. They also had lipid profile and fasting glicemia. It was concluded that 56.9 % of the patients studied presented dyslipidaemias. There were no patients  with increased triglycerides. Less of one fourth of the patients showed high risk levels for low density lipoproteins and it was stressed that 4.31 % of the total of patients reported figures of the protective factor for high density lipoproteins, with a higher prevalence in individuals aged 70-79, and a greater incidence in females.
