Resumen

CABRERA CAO, Yanet; ORTEGA BLANCO, Myrna; ORBAY ARANA, María de la Concepción  y  SANZ DELGADO, Licett. Preconceptional reproductive risk: analysis of its behavior in three family physician’s offices. Rev Cubana Med Gen Integr [online]. 2005, vol.21, n.3-4. ISSN 0864-2125.

A descriptive cross-sectional study was undertaken to analyze the behavior of the preconceptional reproductive risk in 412 women at fertile age from 3 family physician’s offices of the Basic Working Group C of “Plaza de la Revolución” Polyclinic from January 2002 to January 2004. Different variables such as age, main risk factors, contraceptive methods used, and as a result of the comprehensive health actions, the obstetric risk and the maternal and children’s morbimortality. A subregistry of preconceptional risk was found and the risk factor of higher prevalence was the age under 18. The intrauterine devices and the pills predominated within the contraceptive methods, but there was not an epidemiological approach of individual and comprehensive risk in the election of the contraceptive method according to the risk factor. In the cases with preconceptional risk, independently of their previous categorization or not, it was observed a direct relation to the obstetric and perinatal risk. Risk weight at birth, dystocia, toxemia, respiratory distress and acute fetal suffering were the most frequent.

Palabras clave : Reproductive health; family planning; preconceptional reproductive risk; contraceptive methods; obstetric risk.
