The community work is an essential aspect in the performance of the professionals at the first level of attention. All the processes leading to adequate strategy interventions are produced in it. However, they are not usually based on scientific procedures. The present article exposes a research method that provides scientific evidence to the community actions: the research-action. Its use is justified at this level of attention, its characteristics are stressed and its methodological algorithm is presented.
