  The diagnostic strategy to be followed with a patient suffering from chest pain is exposed in this article. Emphasis is made on the semiographic, anatomical and etiological diagnosis of this symptom. In particular, the distinctive semiography of the different anatomicoclinical prototypes of chest pain and the diagnostic approach to resolve cases with chest pain of unknown origin are exposed. Finally, ethical considerations related to the diagnostic management of this symptom are made.
