The appearance and development of the health programs in primary health care, its advantages and usufulness are briefly exposed. It is analyzed how the strategy based on these programs may help the family physician's work as long as he integrates them to the patient's pecularities, such as sex, moment of the vital cycle, previous history, health problems and risks, in addition to the social and epidemiological characteristics of the environment in which the patient develops himself.
