In the practice of Family Medicine, the communication between the professionals and the persons receiving their attention takes place in different contexts that make it singular and more complex than in any other specialty. In this paper, the general postulates on human communication and its characteristics in the work of the Basic Health Team at the primary health care level are exposed. Some channels of non-verbal communication are described, and their expression in the context of the community health work is analyzed.
