Abstract

DIAZ NOVAS, José; GALLEGO MACHADO, Bárbara Rosa  and  LEON LOPEZ, Rogelio. The profile of the family physician practice. Rev Cubana Med Gen Integr [online]. 2007, vol.23, n.1. ISSN 0864-2125.

A review on different studies published on the health problems faced by the family physician in his practice was made. The health problems in primary care are multiple and varied, according to the results of the study illustrating the profile of the family physician practice, where an elevated incidence of acute diseases -many of them of transitory character and spontaneous cure- and a high prevalence of chronic diseases, behavior disorders, alterations of the family functioning and hygienic and environmental problems are found. A training in accordance with the health problem the physician is going to face in his work is required.
