Abstract

A descriptive and transversal study was made to determine the degree of family repercussion of mental deficit on a total of 106 families, which had members presenting some degree of mental retardation. In all study families it was obvious a determined degree of family repercussion, affecting in high and moderate level all areas included in this situation. Repercussion sense of mental deficit was especially unfavourable for health of 84 % of family nuclei. It was confirmed that depending on increment of mental deficit, repercussion of this event in family environment increase significantly.
