CAMPILLO MOTILVA, Rita. Home admission and the municipalization of medical education. Rev Cubana Med Gen Integr [online]. 2008, vol.24, n.2, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3038.
A review of home admission since its origins up to now is made, since it is a continuous home medical attention to patients with specific requirements that are well implemented in the Methodological Folder of the Ministry of Public Health, which rules its functioning. One of its advantages is that it does not separate the patient from his environment and that it compromises the family and the community in his care. The characteristics of medical education in Cuba, starting especially from its municipalization with the creation of the Teaching Polyclinics that require new teaching settings and, particularly, of what is related to the grand medical round, an exclusive educational activity of the medical sciences, are analyzed. To this end, we count on home admission at the primary health care level, where the professor and the medical students can join teaching and health care objectives by visiting those patients admitted at home and they can also analyze the health problems affecting them with a clinical, epidemiological and social approach.
